WRC France 2013: Winning in France, likely Latvala WRC World Champion 2014


Jari-Matti Latvala opportunities world title race after winning the 2014 WRC Rally of France which ended today, Sunday (5/10). Opportunity was successfully achieved after teammate who is also the leader of the standings, Sebastien Ogier, failed to gain points at home.

Despite not dominating the rally in the third, the first podium remains the property of Latvala. Because, perally Finland is already 28 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Andreas Mikkelsen, when starting SS15 in the morning. Latvala itself looks to play it safe in all four stages remaining on Sunday.

Latvala ended the rally's 18 stages with a total time of 2 hours 38 minutes 19.1 seconds, or 44.8 seconds faster than Mikkelsen who was second. While third place inhabited Kris Meeke, Dani Sordo followed in fourth place.

Ogier hit from the first day due to damage to the transmission had to settle for finishing outside the top 10 in 13th place. In fact, quite Ogier dominated the fight on the final day. Rider who won last year's French Rally 8 minutes 36.1 seconds adrift of Latvala.

With these results the Latvala has scored 197 points, or 27 points difference from Ogier who topped the standings. Whereas before Latvala behind 56 points from Ogier.

2014 WRC season itself still leaves the two series to be played in Spain and the UK. In both series would be a gamble for Ogier who retain his world title ambitions.
